What’s EVOH oxygen barrier?
EVOH is shorten of Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol Polymer. Oxygen barrier are used in flexible plastic tubing for hydronic heating applications to protect the hydronic heating system components from corrosion.

How to produce EVOH oxygen barrier pipe?
In a 3-layer construction, the EVOH barrier layer is extruded on outer pipe surface and bonded to the pipe using a adhesive layer. The three layers EVOH composite pipe, such as PEXb/EVOH and PERT/EVOH pipes are produced by co-extrusion technology with three extruder and co-extrusion die head.
Those three extruder are one for inner plastic layer, one for adhesive layer and one for outer EVOH layer.
For five layer pipe, the barrier layer is actually co-extruded in a middle layer of the pipe so that it is fully protected during installation and in service. Four number extruders and one co-extrusion die head are required for this pipe production.
